Chris Godwin has said he wants to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If the Buccaneers don't sign the receiver to a long-term deal, the franchise tag is a possibility for Godwin.

"Yeah, I mean, the way I look at it, similar to like a lot of guys. Obviously, we all want to have long-term security, we all want to be able to take care of the people that we love So, that's the ideal situation. But, you know, a franchise tag is not something that I can control. If that's what keeps me here, then that's what it is," Godwin told the NFL Network.

"And I'll play on it and go back to war with my guys. Like I said, I love it here in in Tampa, I love what we have building and I would love to stay."

Godwin, a 2017 third-round pick, played out a four-year rookie contract in which he garnered $3.2 million over four seasons.

J.J. Watt's time as a free agent may be winding down.

According to a report, Watt's decision is down to the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans.

The former Defensive Player of the Year has also been linked to the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Art Rooney II acknowledged that mutual desire between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger in a statement Wednesday morning.

"Ben Roethlisberger and I met yesterday morning and we had a productive meeting" Rooney said. "We were able to discuss a lot of things that relate to where we are and where we want to go. Ben assured me that he is committed to coming back to help us win, and I told Ben that we would like to have him back to help us win a championship. We both understand that the next step is to work out Ben's contract situation."

The final year of Roethlisberger's current deal comes with a $41.2 million cap hit, although a contract restructure and extension could lower that by a maximum of about $14 million.

The Miami Dolphins are believed to be one of the teams that will target Aaron Jones when he hits free agency next month.

According to a report, the interest is "mutual."

Jones is coming off a second straight 1,000-yard season with a career-best 1,104 yards for the Green Bay Packers in 2020.

The Philadelphia Eagles will release Alshon Jeffrey when the new league year begins in March, according to a report.

The Eagles restructured Jeffery's contract in early January, in order to create some salary cap relief and also to speed up the timeline on making a decision on the receiver's future.

Jeffery caught 171 passes for 2,237 yards and 20 touchdowns in four seasons with Philadelphia.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to decline the team option on Tyler Eifert's contract.

Eifert will now become a free agent instead of earning just under $5 million with the Jaguars in 2021.

J.J. Watt says he's going to take his time choosing a new team in free agency.

He was asked on Twitter by a fan when he'd sign with a team after he was released by the Houston Texans.

Watt responded: "I scroll through door dash for like an hour before I pick a restaurant man ... You're gonna have to give me a second to choose a new team and city."

The Philadelphia Eagles have released DeSean Jackson.

"Looking forward to my next chapter," Jackson posted on social media before the announcement was made official. "Philadelphia it's always Love. Appreciate Everything."

By releasing Jackson, the Eagles are expected to get around $6 million in cap relief. Philadelphia is currently projected to be about $50 million over the 2021 salary cap and will continue to shed salary prior to the start of the league year in March.

The Carolina Panthers created an additional $19.9 million in cap space by releasing three players on Friday.

Carolina released defensive end Stephen Weatherly, safety Tre Boston and punter Michael Palardy to improve the team's cap space to $28.473 million heading into the start of free agency next month.

The Green Bay Packers have released veteran offensive tackle Rick Wagner and linebacker Christian Kirksey to shed some salary.

The moves created $10.25 million in salary-cap space for a team that was about $23 million over the projected cap for 2020.

Kirskey was due to count $6 million against this year's cap and Wagner $4.25 million.
